Mispar Katan Mispari
Mispar katan mispari (“integral reduced value”) takes the standard total and adds its digits together, repeating until a single digit is left. The result is always between 1 and 9.
Worked examples
שלום
376 → 16 → 7 (3 + 7 + 6 = 16, then 1 + 6 = 7)
ישראל
541 → 10 → 1
משיח
358 → 16 → 7
Katan or Katan Mispari?
Mispar Katan reduces each letter before adding (ש 300 becomes 3). Katan Mispari reduces the total. For שלום they give 16 and 7. The final digit is always the same (reducing 16 gives 7), because both are the digital root of the same sum.
With only nine possible results, a match in this method is very weak evidence of anything. One word in nine matches any other.
