Genesis 26:5 says Isaac was blessed “because (עקב, ekev) Abraham hearkened to My voice”. Rabbi Ami bar Abba reads ekev as ע 70 + ק 100 + ב 2 = 172, the number of years Abraham obeyed. Since Abraham lived to 175, he must have recognised his Creator at three (Nedarim 32a).
